Infectious disease update

Measles cases occur almost exclusively among unvaccinated individuals, as the MMR vaccine is exceptionally effective at preventing the disease. In contrast, immunity from the pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine begins to fade after about 4 to 5 years. Because the pertussis component is typically combined with the tetanus vaccine—which is usually boosted every 10 years—this can leave a gap in protection against whooping cough for many adults.

We are happy to provide care through both office visits and telemedicine. If your provider needs to perform a physical exam, we may ask you to come into the clinic for a follow-up. Call (360) 384-2900 to book your next appointment. Just a reminder: because we are licensed only in Washington, patients must be within the state during virtual visits.
